Monreale DOC PDF Print E-mail

doc_monreale_1.jpgMonreale D.O.C. was born in 2000 and it embraces a territory which is particularly suitable for quality wine growing and producing, encompassing the towns of Monreale, Camporeale, Corleone, Roccamena, San Cipirello, San Giuseppe Jato, Santa Cristina Gela and Piana degli Albanesi, all located in the province of Palermo, amounting to 12,000 hectares.

Estates are situated in the inland areas which have medium-calcareous soils with a good percentage of clay, which is very important for giving a full-bodied wine, elegant and refined at the same time.

Regulations provide for classical types of wine: red, rosé, white. There are many native and monovarietal varieties, such as Inzolia, Catarratto, Grillo for the whites, Nero D’Avola and Perricone for the reds, besides the international varieties which are ever-present now.

Quality is the password of Monreale DOC, that means low yields per vine and great care with oenological processes. Also, producers have particularly turned their attention to develop native varieties, through a continuous research in order to improve, strengthen and allow these varieties to be at their best.

Feotto dello Jato winery is aware of the special suitability of this territory for the production of quality wines and has been one of the firms which have promoted the creation of the Monreale DOC, aiming at promoting and protecting our land’s excellent produce.
